MY PERSONAL OPINION OF “LEGENDS AND LATTES” by Travis Baldree

I got the book at the Half Price Books store in Dallas, while we were there for a few days. It was my first time in this store (I know!) and I was super happy when I saw this book. I have been trying to get it from B&N when they do the “buy one get one 1/2 off”, but always ended up not buying it.

I was super excited to read it and hoped that the expectations were met… and yes they were!

I loved the pace of the book, the introduction to the characters, and the way everything was set up so fast at the beginning. It did not allow me time to question the characters or the world and I just slid right into it believing the craziness of it all.

The main character Viv was harsh and soft at the same time, I believed she would be scary-looking, but friendly in conversation. She was relatable because of her dreams and aspirations, but controversial being an Ogre and all.

The other characters were a good mix of weird but nice people who at the end were looking for a place to belong. The fact that the townspeople were going crazy for the coffee was a plus.

Highly entertaining, funny, tender, action packed, and relatable.

PREMISE OF THE BOOK AS FOUND IN AMAZON / GOODREADS:

After a lifetime of bounties and bloodshed, Viv is hanging up her sword for the last time.

The battle-weary orc aims to start fresh, opening the first ever coffee shop in the city of Thune. But old and new rivals stand in the way of success ― not to mention the fact that no one has the faintest idea what coffee actually is.

If Viv wants to put the blade behind her and make her plans a reality, she won’t be able to go it alone.

But the true rewards of the uncharted path are the travelers you meet along the way. And whether drawn together by ancient magic, flaky pastry, or a freshly brewed cup, they may become partners, family, and something deeper than she ever could have dreamed.

MY RATING: 4.4

Rating: 4 out of 5.
