WHY DID I CHOOSE THIS BOOK?

I got this book through NegGalley as an ARC. I have been reading mostly horror and literary fiction, and I needed something light, romantic, and funny; this book did the trick. I was able to get it at the last minute, and I was approved within the day. So glad I got this book. I picked the book mainly because of the cover, and it was one of those books I read without having read the premise.

Illustration of a woman in a red dress and a man in a black shirt posing together on a beach with palm trees in the background, under a moonlit sky. The title 'Love at First Bite' is prominently displayed above them, along with a tagline about a fake dating scenario.

MY PERSONAL OPINION OF “LOVE AT FIRST BITE”

I got this book through NegGalley as an ARC. I have been reading mostly horror and literary fiction, and I needed something light, romantic, and funny; this book did the trick. I was able to get it at the last minute, and I was approved within the day. So glad I got this book. I picked the book mainly because of the cover, and it was one of those books I read without having read the premise.

The book is a contemporary romance that centers on the love story between, you guessed it, a royal vampire (Caspian) and a vampire hunter (Liv), who, in order to retrieve these three powerful and important stones, have to compete in a couple reality show which is going to be at… You guessed it, that remote island where the stones are hidden.

This was a fast read, and it was everything I wanted it to be. It was light, it was fast-paced, romantic, packed with vampire-slaying action, and two main characters with a lot of baggage. The plot in itself is nothing new; however, the way the characters develop, their love, their passion, was solid and good. I devoured the last 40% of the book in one night, and although the ending perhaps was not all that I expected, it was a solid ending since it is book 1 of 2. I would love to read book 2!.

If you like paranormal contemporary romance between vampires and mortals… this book is for you.

This was a 4-star read for me.

PREMISE OF THE BOOK AS FOUND IN AMAZON / GOODREADS:

When Liv Gold stakes the wrong vampire, she’s given one chance to survive: join forces with Prince Caspian Ashcroft, brooding vampire royalty, her sworn enemy and the last man she would ever trust. Together, they must recover three ancient relics powerful enough to change the balance between humans and vampires forever.

There’s just one problem.

The relics are hidden on a remote island that’s only accessible to contestants on the world’s most addictive reality dating show.

Now Liv and Caspian must fake the romance of a lifetime while secretly racing to find the relics before their enemies do. All without revealing she’s a vampire hunter… or that the show’s most eligible bachelor would rather sink his fangs into his fake girlfriend than win the grand prize.

Every heated glance is for the cameras.

Every kiss is supposed to be fake.

Every touch makes it harder to remember she hates him. Because the longer they play the perfect couple, the harder it becomes to remember they’re supposed to be enemies.

Liv was born to hunt vampires.

But she never expected to crave one…

MY RATING: 4.0

Rating: 4 out of 5.
