Hello friends! With so many books hitting shelves every week, I’ve pulled together a short list of 5 notable new releases coming out the week of October 13, 2026. I can’t wait to share the ones I’m most excited to read—let me know which titles catch your eye or if there’s a release I absolutely need to add to my TBR!
I chose a mix of genres and stories that really sparked my curiosity, so hopefully at least one of these upcoming books will grab your attention and find a place on your own TBR.
Peck & Peck: a Novel by Bonnie Grams
HISTORICAL FICTION
Batter Gray is worried about his future. Even when he was eleven, his classmates seemed to have settled on a goal: doctor, lawyer, broker, engineer. Good jobs that automatically command respect, security, 401Ks. Now Batter is in his early twenties, living in New York City, and he wants something different; something that alienates some readers and bores most. Poetry. And yet—to him and exactly thirty-nine editors at a company called Peck & Peck—poetry not only represents the power of humanity but holds the key to its survival.

Another Name for Red: a Novel by Amber Blaeser-Wardzala
THRILLER FICTION
Middle Sister is haunted by everyone in her community who has disappeared—as well as those who remain. Her ex-best friend and ex-boyfriend are walking relics of the girl she used to be, while her family—her activist mother, checked-out father, and attention-starved younger siblings—are reminders of the elder sister she can never live up to. Then there’s John Smith, the infamous white man with red cowboy boots living on stolen reservation land, whose obsessive attentions are as repellant as they are compelling. But most of all, there are the thousands of unacknowledged missing and murdered Indigenous women, including Older Sister, whose year-long absence from the reservation has torn her remaining family apart.

Solace House: a Novel by Will Maclean
HORROR FICTION
An addictive and brilliant puzzle box of a novel following a group of university students who discover an astonishing secret while clearing out a neglected Victorian mansion.
I read this book as an ARC. I wrote a review and I do recommend this book.

Off The Reservation by Stephen Graham Jones
FICTION
By turns terrifying and deeply moving, Off the Reservation is a haunting American Indian novel of survival, reckoning, and redemption, shining light on the dark corners of this country’s history while also showing the desperate choices people make when they’re put up against a wall.
I am going to buy this one!

The Tulip Poplars: a Novel by Silas House
HISTORICAL FICTION
The Tulip Poplars is a gorgeous and moving novel spanning most of the 20th century, centering on four people trying to find happiness in a world that demands conventional choices. House tells a deeply intimate story of faith and doubt, race and class, sexual desire and the longing to be good when you’ve been taught that you are evil for loving who you love. Based on the story of an ancestor, House’s new novel takes us from NYC to Southern cities to Appalachia and will leave you with a bigger heart.

So there you have it! This is my short list of books that caught my attention being released this week. Let me know if any of these made it to your TBR or if you pre-ordered or you are getting ready to get it!.
