MY PERSONAL OPINION OF “THE FURY”

I borrowed this book from Libby as an audiobook. I was going to do a long drive alone and figure a thriller would be a good companion for the trip. The book was a solid 3.75 for me. The main reason I think it was the main character, as the plot developed, it felt like the main character was a sneaky human being. I have to admit I was very satisfied at the end of the book.

I really enjoyed the setup. The Greek island where the wind becomes so strong that it is called the Fury. I liked the way the story was presented, by acts clearly creating a drama in which all characters had their unknown role to play. I enjoyed the uncertainty of who the killer was and the twists and turns the story took.

I was not too invested in any of the characters. From the main two characters to the secondary characters, there was a superficial feel to them.

The end was satisfactory in that I wanted the main character to get the thick of the Fury, and it was, for that part satisfied.

PREMISE OF THE BOOK AS FOUND IN AMAZON / GOODREADS:

This is a tale of murder.

Or maybe that’s not quite true. At its heart, it’s a love story, isn’t it?

Lana Farrar is a reclusive ex–movie star and one of the most famous women in the world. Every year, she invites her closest friends to escape the English weather and spend Easter on her idyllic private Greek island.

I tell you this because you may think you know this story. You probably read about it at the time ― it caused a real stir in the tabloids, if you remember. It had all the necessary ingredients for a press sensation: a celebrity; a private island cut off by the wind…and a murder.

We found ourselves trapped there overnight. Our old friendships concealed hatred and a desire for revenge. What followed was a game of cat and mouse ― a battle of wits, full of twists and turns, building to an unforgettable climax. The night ended in violence and death, as one of us was found murdered.

But who am I?

My name is Elliot Chase, and I’m going to tell you a story unlike any you’ve ever heard..

MY RATING: 3.75

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
